Fariba Safai

Fariba Safai is an abstract figurative artist born in Tehran, Iran. She creates work that expresses the tender yet powerful collision of her childhood experiences witnessing the revolution in Iran, her escape from there, and her love of nature growing up as a child in California. The artist has a bachelor’s degree in design from SFSU and has received a BFA in sculpture from California College of the Arts, in 2004. She has been an artist-activist who has performed in front of thousands of people at women's rallies no borders no walls and freedom for Iran rallies. She has exhibited her paintings at the Swiss art fair in Zurich Switzerland with the ArtBox Projects and at the artist in residency Chateau Orquevaux in Orquevaux France. She has also been a part of a street art mural project in Crete Greece. She has received media mentions from major television news stations for her performance poetry. She has also been written about in the Create Magazine blog and has had mentions from all SHE makes, The Visionary art collective and Visionary Projects. She is presently part of the female artist collective called Art Queens, led by Ekaterina Popova her work has been collected nationally and internationally Fariba currently lives and works in San Francisco.
