Mystic Artist, Laurén Magda transmutes the pain of generational cycles of trauma into healing artworks that are infused with empowering, uninhibited energy.
Silenced for decades by an unregulated nervous system, the only modality that allowed for the truth and emotion to purge for Laurén was her art practice. It’s an emotional outflow that aims to organically uncover mystical messages direct from Source while suspended in creative flow.
This organic channeling births vibrant, undulating paintings into the physical plane. Previously ruled by ego-enforced pressures of societal systems, Laurén’s artwork made a radical shift from objective to transcendental in 2019.
Her otherworldly landscapes are the distillation of behemoth concepts pulled from the Spiritual (inner) realm. It is this inner realm that Laurén explores visually through a meditative approach.
The artist’s flat, hard edged painting technique and spiritual symbolism is akin to her youth in the Orthodox faith, where she spent hours absorbing the colorful iconographic murals of the church.
Laurén’s practice is soulful by design, as she vulnerably processes and shares parts of her lifelong healing journey in an effort to reflect and inspire.
Driven by the notion of healing and the greater unknown, these concepts are uniquely juxtaposed in Laurén’s work.
Laurén Magda is an American, multidisciplinary artist based in Ypsilanti, MI. She has been featured by major art world publications such as Create and All She Makes Magazines, and has participated in various group shows as well as 2023 solo show. She has a concentration in freehand, hard-edged painting.
The key themes Laurén explores are those of the transcendental, spiritual and visionary realms. Her paintings are boldly colorful, line work heavy and convey a sense of wonder and tranquility. She is inspired by the calm and empowerment that comes from healing generational trauma, as well as her spiritual belief system in the mystical workings of the Universe.
Laurén pursued art making as a profession by attending Detroit’s College for Creative Studies, earning her BFA in Illustration in 2011. She has over a decade of professional graphic design and commercial art experience. After taking a hiatus from pursuing her personal work post art school to commit to a healing journey, she re-established her focus in 2018 and has been creating collections for both personal and gallery representation.
