Lindsay Dauphinee is a self-taught emerging artist currently living in Ontario, Canada. Her re-entry into creative pursuits began shortly after her first child, Jack was born. The labour and delivery had several complications and ultimately left Jack in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for several weeks. These events took place during the second wave of the pandemic and as such only one parent was permitted bedside at a time. With many hours spent anxiously awaiting news in hospital waiting rooms, Lindsay distracted herself with lively accounts created by colourful and talented artists on social media. Little did she know, this would become a silver lining to very challenging events.
Thankfully Jack was eventually able to come home and be with his family. But, Lindsay knew she still NEEDED art. After many years of artistic block she bought a few tubes of paint and began spending evenings healing through the creative process. After a couple of months she decided she needed to use this gift to help others. In 2021, for her 37th Birthday, Lindsay asked her community to consider donating their age in dollars to the NICU that had saved Jack’s life. It was a success raising $1000 for the cause. This was also the birth of the Paint It Forward Charity project!
Over the next several months, Lindsay would continue to rise $3000 for other charitable causes including Women for Women International and mothers who had lost babies to SIDS.
The universe supported Lindsay’s endeavours as she was granted the inaugural Not Sorry Art School scholarship and other blessings during her journey. She continues to paint today as a full-time artist and mum (with another on the way) hoping to be an example showing every story has a silver lining, art is healing and no dream is too big.
