Tiffany Budzisz grew up in a small town in rural Virginia. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River, she developed a love for nature and the outdoors. Anything from the shadow of a looming cloud above the mountains, to a tiny mushroom on the forest floor, were sources of inspiration. Her joy for creating art began at an early age while painting ceramics at age two in her mother’s studio. Her latest work, the Botanical Series, is inspired by the natural world, the human body, and the life/death cycle. The artwork in this series is symbolic of the love, growth, and renewal in our lives as we heal from disappointment and loss. Mother Nature is powerful and transformative. Even after death, life goes on, and new seeds sprout and flourish from the soil.

Tiffany learned about the art of paper sculpture during her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and fell in love with the medium of paper. She creates her paper sculptures by cutting intricate shapes from archival paper with a utility knife. She curves the individual cut shapes with a dowel, then glues the pieces together between layers of foam core to create dimensional works of art. While this may seem tedious to some, the process of cutting, shaping, and creating are moments of pure happiness for her.

Tiffany earned a B.F.A. in Communication Arts & Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000. She has worked as a graphic designer, art director, and illustrator, in addition to her work as a fine artist. She is currently co-owner of an online gallery, Art in the Valley, and resides in the Pittsburgh, PA area with her husband and two daughters.
